RedBull to race at LeMans and WEC?

2021 is set to witness one of the biggest rule changes in F1. The FIA has planned a new breed of futuristic cars and plenty of "behind the scene" changes. The aim of this larger than life change is to make the sport fairer and more competitive. Instead of quick fixes, this time the changes will be at the grassroot level in terms of a more equal pay structure for teams to prevent team size and money from being the decisive factor in success.  However, if a cost cap like this one is introduced, a lot of bigger teams might protest since most of their staff would have to be laid off.                              RedBull has said that if such a situation does arise then the extra staff would be put to work on other projects. With the WEC also making a grand rule change in 2020 with its hypercar-based LMP1 replacement category, the idea is that the team could start a program based on the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar that Red Bull technologies played a big part in desig

Mick schumacher wins the F3 championship

A surge in his form saw Mick Schumacher win 5 races in a row giving him a 49-point lead over his nearest rival, Dan Ticktum. However, a first-lap collision in the first race at the Hockenheimring meant that he had to avoid dropping further 15 points to Ticktum in race two, which he managed to do by securing a 2nd place finish.  Schumacher's title win comes after a 12th place finish in his rookie season. The son of the 7-time world champions was incredibly delighted and was "really greatful" for the championship. With all the attention and media surrounding him at all times, his team has played an important role in keeping his grounded and focused.  “It’s hard to describe in words.  I feel really grateful for what I’m able to live in this moment, to live this dream. We do what we love, so to also perform well in it is the best feeling you can get.  I have the team behind me, and people I can go to for relaxing.  This was key for me coping with the a

Charles Leclerc : F1's newest sensation

With just 9 races into the 2018 Formula 1 season, Charles Leclerc has gone from being rookie to the newest sensation in F1.  Charle Leclerc's perfomaces with Sauber have caught the paddock's attention. His fight with Fernando Alonso in the Canadian Grand Prix was an absolute jot to watch. The season didn't start of incredibly well for him however he has constantly imporved and made a stunning breakthrough in terms of his results.  His recent performances have been so consistent and good, that they’ve put a question mark on Kimi Raikkonen’s one-year extension with Ferrari. However, having said that with Raikkonen’s current form, a one-year extension with Ferrari and simultaneously a one-year extension for Leclerc at Sauber is not out of the picture. The last driver who went from rookie to sensation was Max Verstappen. When he first debuted in 2015, he was labelled as a future champion. Leclerc’s unexpected performances has surely challenged all titles previo

Things Older than Max Verstappen

Max Verstappen missed out on a real podium opportunity after colliding with Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel during the Chinese Grand Prix. Verstappen naturally became the talk of the weekend with people questioning his lack of experience, his driving style etc. Vettel was Verstappen’s latest victim, after previously colliding with reigning world champion Lewis Hamilton in Bahrain. It was natural of RedBull to shield their driver but giving the “Max is still young, he’s still learning” excuse brought a fair amount of criticism on their part. On a lighter note here are a few things older than Max Verstappen: 1.      Google 2.      Ebay 3.      Harry Potter  4.      Pokemeon 5.      Spice Girls  However, rivals expect Max to only come back stronger. Criticism is part of the sport and this was Verstappen’s wake up call to pull himself together and get his foot down. Esteban Ocon who raced against Verstappen in the F3 series said -  “Max is Max. He's still t

Bahrain Grand Prix : A Masterclass by Sebastian Vettel

Against all odds Sebastian Vettel fended off Valtteri Bottas to win the Bahrain Grand Prix and extended his lead over the reigning world champion. Hamilton, who started 9 th after taking a penalty, took the final podium spot from Kimi Raikkonen who stopped after a collision with one of his own mechanics during the pitstop. The mechanic, Francesco Cigarini was immediately rushed to the medical centre and is currently recovering from a shinbone and fibula fracture. Pole sitter, Sebastian Vettel had an advantage going into the race on Sunday. However, in the first round of pitstops the second placed Bottas and teammate Hamilton switched to the medium compound tyres – in theory a slower but more durable tyre and both the Ferrari’s put on the softs.  Both the M ercedes were undoubtedly going to the end of the race, the question was whether Ferrari could make their tyres last. With Raikkonen out of this mixture, Hamilton had his eyes set on Bottas and Bottas on Vettel.

2018 Autralian Grand Prix

The Australian Grand prix in classic Mercedes style with Lewis Hamilton setting a blistering qualifying lap to grab pole position. The race weekend wasn't particularly going well for Sebastian Vettel. For the most part, Kimi Raikkonen in the other Ferrari was faster and looked more comfortable with the car.  During the race he failed to make any kind of impact on Hamilton or Raikkonen. However, his lack of performance came to his advantage when Ferrari decided to keep him out for longer. A perfectly timed VSC paired with software glitch for Mercedes meant Vettel would take the lead. With overtaking so difficult in Melbourne, Vettel maintained a lead to secure his second successive win at Australia.  The new McLaren Renault combination seems to be heading in the right direction. Alonso's 5th place and Vandoorne's 9th place gave McLaren their sixth double points finish in two years. Alonso put on a stunning show, storming through the field from 11th to 5th. According
