Last race before the summer break , the German Grand prix at Hockenheim made a comeback this season.
What seemed to be a perfect weekend for Nico Rosberg turned into disaster. Rosberg had set the fastest time in all the practice sessions and grabbed pole form his teammate Lewis Hamilton. Everything seemed to go his way that is until the race started. Rosberg had a lot of wheel spin and was immediately overtaken by both the Redbulls. He had now fallen down to fourth. The Redbulls swapped places in an amazing move (as usual) made by Max Verstappen and the Ferrari's too had switched places with Sebastian Vettel ahead in 5th.
Daniel Ricciardo finished an amazing 2nd in his 100t gp.
Meanwhile at the back Felipe Massa got hit by Jolyon Palmer which ultimately led Williams to retire the car.
Rosberg and Verstappen went wheel to wheel , Rosberg however had a full steering lock and ended up pushing Verstappen out of the track. Rosberg was immediately handed a penalty. Many of the fans are now questioning FIA as to how he Rosberg could have turned if he had a full lock and also as to why Hamilton wasn't penalised for similar driving in the previous years.
Ferrari have seemed suddenly dropped to the 3rd team from being the closest challenger to Mercedes. They seemed to be doing well in Hockenheim on the first two days but didn't find the right balance for Qualifying and the Race. Ferrari have a lot of work to do . Both Vettel and Raikkonen believe that they know how to turn things around and are confident of having a better half to the season.
This win for Lewis means that he now leads the championship by 19 points from Nico and Redbull have passed Ferrari to claim second place in the Constructors championship.
