Belgian Grand Prix at the legendary Spa-Francorchamps is known for its unpredictable weather and one of the most famous corners in F1, Eau rouge.
Spa never fails. The 2016 Belgian Grand Prix was action-packed right from the start. Lewis Hamilton was starting alongside Fernando Alonso right at the back due to his combined penalties. The start was CHAOTIC. Sebastian Vettel , Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen collided in the first corner. Kimi and Max got their front wings damaged and Seb spun leaving him dead last. In the meanwhile, Button got hit by Wehrlein and within some time Carlos Sainz's tyre exploded in classic Pirelli fashion.
About the whole Max-Seb-Kimi incident, the one thing that is for sure is that Kimi is not at fault. Whose side you're on is up to you, whether it's seb or max (whatever makes you happy). But Max seemed to be driving very aggressively especially when defending Raikkonen at the later stages of the race. Niki Lauda had a lot to say about Max saying, "Max should go back to school that start was absolute Harakiri. Max should belong in the asylum if he thinks he didn't make any mistakes". (a little harsh niki).
Max's age seemed to have caught up with him, he said: "No! I wasn't aggressive . They were aggressive. So I didn't want to let them past because they had destroyed my race. I don't care, I don't care about Kimi!. He ended my race in the first corner".
Daniel Ricciardo, Fernando Alonso and both the Force Indias were probably the most to benefit from all the chaos. Fernando Alonso in the Mclaren (Yes!) finished in the points! Keeping both the Williams and the Ferrari of Raikkonen behind him. Let's talk about Lewis Hamilton, shall we? okay. Firstly to stay calm in such a chaotic race itself deserves a trophy.
On top of that to start at the end and to finish on the podium well that's just simply amazing. Of course, all the crashes and pit stops and the red flag helped him. Still a very commendable drive.
Nico Rosberg held his own today. Leading from start to finish, controlling the pace right from lap 1. A very clean drive from him. Kevin Magnussen had a bad shunt but was lucky to walk away from it. He just has a small cut on his ankle apart from that everything seems to be fine.
Before I forget, SHOEY!
The best part of the race
It's back to back race weekends !!
Up next is another legendary F1 track, the one, the only MONZA. Circuit of the Italians, hopefully, Ferrari can end the streak of bad luck (Ferrari have new updates coming in) and get back on track!
Until the Next Race,
Goodbye
