After an exciting Malaysian Grand Prix we are now here in China for another race weekend.
Sebastian Vettel's surprise victory in the Malaysia has sparked a ray of hope for all the teams , Mercedes are beatable.
Now the big question is if the prancing horse can maintain their pace in the cooler conditions of Shanghai and whether they can again take the top step of the podium from the silver arrow.
Here's what Sebastian Vettel had to say about China :"I think China will be special. Obviously I've always felt that there are a lot of fans, especially for Ferrari and especially for Kimi in China. I think if they wave the Ferrari flag then I feel they also wave it a little bit for me..It was nice to be so competitive but also there were a couple of circumstances coming together. We're realistic about where we are .Our pace was for real 2 weeks ago. I don't think Mercedes backed off. So it was nice to feel so competitive. "
Lewis Hamilton: "Shanghai is one of my favourite locations, simply because of the fans. I don't know how, but from the moment we land at the airport they know we're there. It really is amazing to see the support we get. The circuit itself is a different challenge to Albert Park and Sepang - but it's one I really enjoy and it suits my driving style quite well. I won the race last year and have only finished outside of the podium places twice, so the target is definitely to build on that and get back to the front."
Kimi Raikkonen : " I said after Australia that if we had been behind them [Mercedes] in the race I didn't think they would have pulled away. It's not as far [the gap] as people think.Maybe we are not where we want to be exactly but if we compare where we were last year we can be really happy, at least right now, from where we finished the season. There's still work to be done to be happy with all the things but that's why we are here."
Sergio Perez : "Obviously it is frustrating not to have a competitive car that can bring you into the points with pure pace. That makes things really hard, but it doesn't change anything as a driver. You still give it your best possible shot weekend after weekend.Obviously, you are in a position where it is very easy to make mistakes, to lose the car as the car is very difficult with degradation. From now on, we will have hard races - but it is where we are."
Valtteri Bottas : "We are definitely aiming at least at some places to be better than them.If we can keep progressing you never know, if they struggled with development we could catch up so we just need to keep doing our job. This track [Shanghai] should be better for us and we do expect to be closer here to Ferrari and Mercedes.I expect the conditions to be better here and we also have some aero updates which will hopefully work as planned. But we can't forget Malaysia because there will be hot races in the future as well and we don't want to be struggling with the same problems."
Felipe Nasr : Looking now to China it's all different - different conditions. I think the hot conditions in Malaysia didn't really help us, but I think the conditions here could be a lot better for us - a lot closer to Melbourne. We will start fresh again, and it will be the first time I will have the three [practice] sessions available to me to work on the set-up of the car and understand the track. I'm looking forward to this one"

Shanghai is much cooler than Malaysia and hence Mercedes have a great chance to redeem their dominant status,
Cooler conditions should help alleviate the sort of extreme tyre degradation , this will help Ferrari but at the same time the Mercedes too.
But then again anything can happen on race day .
