Ferrari gave their fans plenty to cheer about. Overtaking the slow starting Hamilton on the start put the Ferraris of Vettel and Raikkonen in 2nd and 3rd respectively. But Mercedes' blistering pace was eventually able to steal one podium position from the Ferraris. Sebastian Vettel did finish 3rd which gave the tifosi a lot to cheer about. Ferrari insist that things are calming down and that they are headed in a positive direction. The tracks coming up suit Redbull but at the same time are tracks in which Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen have gone well in. Maybe Ferrari can challenge Redbull and probably even Mercedes in Singapore.
Redbull were prepared for one of the "toughest races of season" in Monza. Williams had better pace than the Bulls throughout the weekend. Daniel Ricciardo had been trailing Valtteri bottas for a few laps and he managed to pull of a stellar move down into turn 1, taking both Bottas and probably the Williams garage by surprise. This was probably the overtake of the year.
Meanwhile Jenson Button has pulled a Mika Haikkinen and has decided to take a " year off ". What Mclaren called an "Innovative three driver strategy" will include Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandroone but Jenson will take on the role of a test driver with a possible return to the main line up in 2018. Hopefully this won't be his last season.
But seriously Fernando Alonso had the best team radio.
Felipe Massa also announced his retirement from F1 at the end of this season. This leaves a big question mark as to who will take up his place in Williams. ( rumour has it that it might be Lance stroll). Apart from that Felipe has been a major part of F1 , he's arguably one of F1's best drivers. Felipe will be missed
Until the next race
Goodbye
